My New 2022 Planner

My artistic friend and personal illustrator, Claudia Guzes, gave me a 2022 planner when we met up for our children’s book series pow-wow in December. I didn’t notice until later that her artwork was on the cover. When I asked her about it, she said the company has contacted her about creating a design. And what a design it was. She illustrated Tonantzin, the mother of all and diety whose holy place became the place the La Virgen de Guadalupe first appeared.

I didn’t notice that Claudia had included this blog as part of her work description until later as well. She mentioned the book we’ve worked on together about Moroleon too. Cool beans! Anyway, the planner is awesome! I’ve already begun filling out my 2022 projects list.

2022 Here I Come!

I decided to simplify my yearly goals process. I’m certainly not going to keep going with the Gretchen Rubin idea of 22 for 2022. That seems overwhelming at the moment. Instead, I’m going back to the one-word focus. And for 2022, I chose the word “Intention.”

So what does that mean to me? That all my actions will be done with intention in mind.

I have some fitness goals, which I will work on intentionally. Being fit at 50 is the main focus. I’ll only be 49 in 2022, so I’ve given myself some leeway. I so want arms like these Victorian babes in the picture above. I might even get myself a feathered hat.

I have some writing goals and instead of being scattered at their pursuit, I will be intentional. My main goal is to complete an herbal book and course for women’s wellness at all stages of life. Look for that in the fall of 2022.

Ok–so our bio-pool won’t be quite as nice.

I have some living space goals as well. This year, I’m focusing on just two, a bio-pool and the second floor of the commercial space we have designed on my son’s lot. It is my intention for those two projects to be completed in 2022.

I also have two collaborative projects I’ll be working on throughout 2022. Since I’ve learned that things done as a partner take twice as long, I’m not setting firm dates for those to be finished, but I’m excited about the new course for ex-pats with Kimberlee Thorne and the children’s book series with Claudia Guzes. I hope to have something positive to report by the end of the year. At least that’s my intention.

So what are you planning for 2022?

End of Year 2021 Recap

In January, I made a 21 for 2021 list inspired by Gretchen Rubin’s article. So how did that go? Well, let’s see.

Home Improvements

  • Paint the outside front of the house (YES! And had my friend Claudia paint an amazing mural.)
  • Buy the lot next door (bought the one up from that instead)
  • Maintain a clean living environment (sort of)

Creature Comforts

  • Buy new pajamas and fluffy slipper socks sets (To be carried over to 2022)
  • Read 12 books I love (YES! I reviewed a whole bunch on my other blog ceflores.com)
  • Take the time for foot treatments for cracked heels (I did but I still have super dry heels.)

Spirituality

  • Express daily gratitude (YES! Living in the moment!)
  • Take time to enjoy the moment in nature (YES! Even if it was just in my garden.)
  • Garden (YES! I got tomatoes this year!)

Family

  • Help my son work towards adulthood by getting passport and bank accounts (Capital One Teen account/ Mexican IFE but COVID prevented getting an appointment for any passports)
  • Give love and attention to the animals daily (YES! Our quarantine kitten became two and then a puppy.)
  • Maintain the good health of all family members (Still working on finding a good regime that works to help with my son’s breathing issues.)

Career

Financial Security

  • One full-year online writing job (Does writing my own blog posts and books count?)
  • One part-year online job (I’ve been doing a copywriting/editing gig that will finish up in about a month.)
  • One full-year online teaching job (Yep! Still employed teaching online. A large number of women lost their online teaching positions this year when China did some craziness. But, not me.)

Physical/Health

  • Use the stationary bike every day (8 out of 12 months ain’t bad!)
  • Take a minimum of 3 dog walks every day (Yes! Cocoa loves his walks.)
  • Maintain vitamin/medication regime (Yes! Vitamin C and D, plus immune-strengthening teas all year!)

I have to say, I hadn’t realized how much I had accomplished this year until I went through this list. Looking back, I’m quite impressed with my own productivity. And now I’m glad 2021 is over. Aren’t you?
